Holidays are pure fun especially spending a lot of quality time with family and friends. However it’s also one of the most stressful. Make the season more enjoyable by stopping stress in its tracks with these tips.
With the gift-giving, the cooking, the decorations and the parties, the holidays can seem to be more like work than a vacation. Here’s how to have a stress free holiday this season.
1. Drop expensive, high stress rituals
Families thrive on traditions and it’s something that you want to pass onto your kids. But if you find that it’s no longer working for your family then maybe consider doing it differently. Do something simple and universally appealing, like skating or singing carols.
2. Focus on what’s important
If you’re getting overwhelmed buying gifts or sending cards, think of the 10 most important people you want to send them out to. You can also consider sending e-cards. That will be cheaper and environmentally friendly!
3. Do something that makes you happy!
The holidays is all about fun and pure happiness. So do what makes you happy! If you enjoy singing carols or decorating, then do it. Do things that makes you happy so you could have a stress free holiday.
4. Always plan your shopping spree
It’s easy to buy gifts if you have a plan. Schedule the best times or days, where you can go shopping hassle free. Most of the time people go out shopping when Christmas is near, don’t do that.
5. Take advantage of time-savers
Want to have a stress free family dinner? Ordering at your local deli or restaurant can help you cut time on your holiday prep. It can also help you focus on the important things, like spending time with family during the holidays.
6. Use what’s on hand
We sometimes stress on things we don’t have. Well this is true when you want better decorations or a new theme this Christmas. Not only does it cost you money, it also adds to your stress. Use the things you already have so you can enjoy your holidays.
7. Remember to have fun!
Sure the holidays can be stressful, but if you manage to keep a plan, have fun and be frugal along the way, then most likely you’ll enjoy your holidays.
