Being organized is one of the hardest part to master especially when you’re busy with work and business. Believe it or not, we are in a constant struggle to keep ourselves organized even in the most convenient places like your closet, or computer files.
To be organized you need to be disciplined and to follow through until it becomes a habit. I have listed simple habits you need to do in order to keep yourself organized.
- Create a To-do List – Your to-do list is something that allows you to identify things you have to do for the day. It allows you to keep track of your tasks and it helps you to stay focused to complete them.
- Maintain a Calendar – If you have your to do list handy, then it’s time to put it in your calendar. Your phone or email calendar reminds you what you need to do for the day. A calendar can help you stay organized and be on top of things for the day. You will never miss out on an important task to be done if you have them on your calendar.
- Finish one task before moving on through the next – Admit it, we often jump from one task to another. This is because we want things finished as soon as possible. But we normally end up not finishing anything because we are too distracted doing another task. Try to focus your energy on one task until completion. If you can’t finish a task because it involves a lot of time and effort, then try to break down the actions to be done to have that task completed.
- Write Everything down – Honestly, we cannot just remember everything we need to remember for that day. The most sensible thing you need to do is to write it down. Writing your thoughts down allows you to remember it and you get to dump in the things you need to remember in one place, rather than wasting time remembering it throughout the day.
- Plan for the next day – Planning your day for tomorrow allows you to organize your time and tasks to be done for the next day. A plan allows you to see easily see what are the things you must be doing for tomorrow. This organizes your time and allows you to get things done without getting distracted.
